Business description

Founded in 1967, Nordomatic is today the Nordic region’s leading independent partner for property owners in building automation focusing on “smart buildings” and energy efficiency with a strong position in Sweden, Denmark and Norway.

Nordomatic offers full life-cycle capabilities for its customers – from new project integrations, retrofits and upgrades to aftermarket service and support. Its Building Management Systems (“BMS”) solutions can integrate and manage a building’s heating/cooling, lighting, access control and security as well as fire control.

The Company also sells market-leading intelligent systems - “Ecopilot” and "Smart Heating" - enabling building energy cost reductions of up to 40% and helping users to meet EU climate and energy goals.

Headquartered in Stockholm, Nordomatic operates over 30 service points in Scandinavia, UK and Benelux with around 750 employees. For the past decade, the Company has embarked on an expansion journey making 13 acquisitions in its ambition to further strengthen its value proposition and successfully gain market share in the Nordic region.

Return with impact investment rationale

Trill Impact sees significant potential in growing Nordomatic's service business, investing in and rolling out its PropTech solutions and making acquisitions across the Nordic region and potentially in continental Europe.  The company operates in an industry benefitting from several positive structural trends.

  • Increased demand from property owners and tenants for improved energy efficiency and indoor climate as well as stricter reporting requirements for property owners
  • Sizeable service business with high potential for outsized growth via professionalization and implementing best practices
  • Significant roll-out potential of the market-leading smart applications including Ecopilot and Smart Heating which generate clear measurable energy savings in buildings when installed
  • Opportunity for further consolidation in the Nordics and entry into continental Europe with an identified pipeline of acquisition targets
  • Historically strong financial track record with a highly cash-generative business model

Nordomatic's solution

As almost 75% of the building stock is energy inefficient, intelligent BMS systems can make a significant positive impact. Nordomatic's impact performance is interlinked with the value creation agenda and by growing and improving its products and services Nordomatic will accelerate its impact contribution.

  • The EU is not on track to meet energy efficiency targets
  • It is estimated that 75% of the EU’s building stock is inefficient, with only 1% renovated each year
